OUGD505 - Brief 02 - Research - Food Cycle

Similarily to the Real Junk Food Project, FoodCycle runs volunteer-powered community projects across the UK – all working to reduce food poverty and social isolation by serving tasty, nutritious meals to vulnerable people. They share very similar goals, intentions and visions for the future of food security across the UK and the world.
Since they started cooking in May 2009, their incredible volunteers have served over 125,000 meals made using over 146,000kg of surplus food – the equivalent saving of 657,000kg CO2 emissions. These stats are truly impressive and positive and make me feel very proud that there are people out there dedicating their time to make positive changes to our food waste habits.
